The KBA welcomes new Executive Officer

The Kitsap Building Association is proud to announce that Russ Shiplet will take over the Executive Director position recently vacated by the long-tenured Teresa Taylor. Taylor recently accepted the Executive Director position at the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS).  

 Russ Shiplet has lived and worked in and out of Kitsap Co. for nearly 33 years.  He has served in the US Navy, taught middle and high school math and computer technology at Klahowya Secondary School and King’s West, worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a trainer, and was appointed to the role of Naval Sea System Command Deputy Training Director in 2009.  Prior to retiring from government civil service in 2014, Russ served as the Manager’s Internal Control Program Coordinator as well as the Quality Assurance and Property Manager at NUWC Keyport.  Since that time, Russ has worked as the Continuous Improvement Lead Engineer for Key Energy Services in Midland, TX, and held the Executive Director position of Gateway Fellowship Church and Gateway Christian Schools in Poulsbo, WA. 

Russ has actively been involved in coaching and athletics, serving as assistant and head baseball coach at Klahowya Secondary School as well as JV baseball coach at North Kitsap High School.  In 2012, Russ was chosen to lead the Kitsap County All Stars Babe Ruth World Series baseball team.  Most recently, Russ championed the Under Armour Flag Football League for boys and girls, grades K-8th in Kitsap County.

Russ holds a Bachelor degree in Education from Western Washington University, as well a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Occupational and Technical Studies from Old Dominion University.
